  9. 1. Attendance:  
  10.    16 people came (5 others expressed regret that they couldn't make it.)
  11.    13 asked to be added to the IMAP email list.
  12.     7 planned to attend the Amsterdam IETF.

  21. There was general agreement that the focus of the proposed working group 
  22. should be to refine and extend the existing IMAP2/IMAP2bis protocol, 
  23. hopefully without breaking the installed base of IMAP2-capable software.
  24.  
  25. The wording of the proposed WG charter was deemed generally acceptable.
  26.  
  27. A list of desired IMAP extensions was made.  Many of the proposed features
  28. appear to be within the scope of the CMU IMSP (Interactive Mail Support
  29. Protocol) project, rather than IMAP.  Also, some are likely to be
  30. incompatible with current software.

  32. It was clear that disconnected operation, ala DMSP/PC-Mail, was a very 
  33. high priority.

  35. 4. Wish list:
  36.  
  37. -Support for disconnected operation
  38. -Offline sorting of mailbox
  39. -Background server searching and sorting
  40. -Shared mailbox per-user state (like a .newsrc, but for mailboxes)
  41. -Function to determine where to submit messages
  42. -Storage/retrieval of MUA configuration data
  43. -Minimal non-plaintext authentication
  44. -Minimal confidentiality (XOR with shared secret)
  45. -Test assertion that PEM does not affect IMAP
  46. -Remote printing (from IMAP server's copy of msg)
  47. -Improved searching

  49. 5. Next steps:

  51. The proposed WG charter, with minor modifications, will soon be submitted
  52. to the IETF application area directors for endorsement and forwarding to
  53. IESG for approval of the WG.

  55. The wish list will be combined with other input and categorized according 
  56. to scope, compatibility, etc.
